Brownie Kapow

We love, love, love chocolate as a family. Unfortunately with the children’s nut allergy and intolerance to a lot of sugary items. It has been frustrating over the years navigating isles in search of snacks which are nut free.  Nuts have alternate names which we have had to learn. Years ago, we were very pleased when we stumbled upon this brand.  It produces a perfect brownie consistency and has very straightforward recipe.

The name alone ‘Ghirardelli’ when pronounced tells you; this stuff is good! This is the easiest mix, which requires to add just water, oil and 1 egg to the mix for a basic brownie. Effortless Yum!

The ingredients and instructions to make a standard brownie are on the box, for ease of reference, I have outlined them below:

Standard Brownie

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of brownie mixture

  • 1 egg

  • 75ml water

  • 75ml veg oil

Method

  1. Pre-heat Oven to 160C/325F/Gas Mark 3. Line your baking tray with baking parchment (brownies are sticky and this makes it easy to transfer from the tray)

  2. Place water, oil and egg in medium bowl and stir until fully mixed.

  3. Add the brownie mix and stir until well blended. Spread in prepared pan. (mixing with a wooden spoon works just fine.

  4. Depending on Pan size, bake between 45 to 55 mins.

You get 4 packs in each box, which is plenty. You can try the basic recipe as instructed, which is wonderful on its own as a traditional brownie. This box is versatile, to make the brownie more interesting, you can add extra ingredients, such as:

Option 1 – Marshmallow Mint Brownie

Our children love this option as the marshmallows bubble up and expand resulting in a mountainous inviting gooey brownie that is simply divine to the taste buds, simply add to the mixture during method 2 above.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 Marshmallows

  • 10 choc mints, (after 8 is our choice)

Option 2 – Christmas Brownie

For a festive brownie, add during method 2;

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp cardamon powder, (either black or green)

  • 1/2 tsp all spice

Option 3 – Coffee Brownie

Adding 1 or 2 tsp of ground coffee in the mixture is my husband’s favourite as he simple loves everything coffee.

Tip

  • The brand is available in Costco, (which is neither sponsoring nor is it aware of this post), so rush to your closest branch or if like me you just can’t wait 👉 shop here .
