My Lifestories

I compose Poetry and Songs for my hubby and the kids. My sonnets have successfully wooed them and over the years. My husband is hard of hearing and as a result, he only hears beats instead of the words as they are sung unless he learns them by watching the lyrics or lip reading.

I am a fan of most genres of music, which is perfect for him because I sing with such enthusiasm that he thinks I sing like an angel even though my voice is not that great. I listen to music in a very visceral way, sometimes all it takes is the first few notes or beats and I know I am going to love it. The first keyboard notes on Whitney Houston and Deborah Cox’s song ‘Same Script Different Cast’ are a perfect example of notes that led to loving a song. The drama and emotion between the two characters left me torn between whose side to pick. I would love to get feedback from anyone who decides to listen to it.

Kyriacos and I started off with rock, country and pop music when were initially dating. Reggae and Jazz when I was pregnant with Georgiana; to date, she loves Jazz and is her main request when we get in the car. I needed to be calm and almost in a Zen state for the entire duration of my pregnancy with Chanel; classical music, diffusers and candles were my best friend. Sky Arts on television was heaven sent during these trying months. Chanel, in turn, loves classical music and opera. I cannot wait until to take her to an Andre Rieu Live Concert on a summer day. Preferably Maastricht so I’m putting my request to the universe. With such a willing and captive audience I have managed to merge all these genres into our daily life creatively when being a mummy and wife. I am currently in love with electro-pop and country music so you can imagine the air guitar madness we are having. They love my howling and as long as they are happy I will keep at it; it gets me out of any sticky situations with them.

Like most people who appear to be extroverts, I have faced my fair share of joy and trouble over the years. I will give an open and honest account of my experiences, the battles I have overcome and the ones I still struggle with.

This section is very close to my heart, as it is the main reason I wanted to have a blog. May those who relate to some of the harsh experiences know that they are not alone and may the positive stories stir you on into being the best ‘YOU’ that you can be. There is a human being behind every face. Let us have compassion for those who need compassion and champion encouragement to those who do well or are trying by recognising their efforts and helping out where we can.

On the Run 2 With Love

To say that last night was incredible would be an understatement. I have been listening to Jay-Z’s poetry in music for decades. Beyonce; well lets just say I learnt how to dance from watching her.

My Bridal March: All My Life

This was in the 90’s and I simply froze, transfixed at the difference in this ballad emitting from the speakers. My mother must have felt the same reaction when she jumped stating “increase the volume… who is this?’ She was captivated by the words; I was moved by the beat.
